During mid-April 2025, an unexpected email from Doreen arrived in my inbox. She shared how ‘Appreciating‘ had taken on a deeply personal significance following her diagnosis of breast cancer, becoming a catalyst for contemplating her own mortality. Her words were both moving and humbling, reminding me that a photograph can continue its journey long after it leaves the artist’s hands.
In honour of Doreen, I dedicate these photographs from my collaboration with Lucinda, Appreciating.
A very adventurous and confident Lucinda sits on the remains of this ancient Roman Wall. This photoshoot took about an hour after we met at a cafe to discuss our plan of action. We tried to work fast, given that it was in a car park that was quiet of people yet busy with cars left by their owners. Now and then, a businessman would pass by in a very English manner, as if they hadn’t seen what they had seen, but certainly some looked back to confirm that they had seen a naked woman and a photographer. As you can see, there was a moment of laughter.

LETTING GO
We spend so much of life wondering how we appear to others, trying to be acceptable, when perhaps freedom comes from simply letting go.
And that’s where Naked Britain can become so much fun. As self-consciousness softens, vulnerability becomes freedom. We can laugh, connect, play and simply be present without constantly judging ourselves. To be seen as we are, imperfect, vulnerable and human. To let go, to be present, and simply be.
I thank and honour Rod for his support, belief in me, and belief in my photography. His encouragement has revolutionised my creativity and given me the opportunity to move forward and explore new possibilities.
This Superman shoot was truly special, filled with fun, laughter and creativity. Photographing Rod, with the wonderful help of my assistant and good friend Delseta, made the experience memorable.
