The suit is 21st century armour. It’s what so many of us sport as we go into battle across the boardroom table. I feel snug and protected in mine, cocooned against the world in this most conventional and acceptable of modern uniforms – tie neat against the collar, first button done up, nice crease in the trousers – no sign of breakfast on the lapels. I wouldn’t dream of not wearing a suit to work. I’d feel naked without it.
